Customer Support Beyond the Sale: Why We Believe Honest Service Matters
At Amp-Line Corp., we've always believed that selling an AC power source or power amplifier is only the beginning of a relationship. Whether our customer is a Fortune 500 manufacturer, a research laboratory, a university, or a self-funded startup, our commitment remains the same: provide honest technical and sales support that truly benefits the customer’s application needs.
An engineer, who started his own company, was using one of our AC plasma power supply systems for more than a year, and he accidentally overloaded the AL-1400-HF/A wideband power amplifier. He changed the input signal of the function generator to 5V (the input signal of our wideband power amplifier is 0 – 2 V rms.), and the plasma power supply immediately stopped working (it no longer produced any output). Concerned that the amplifier may be damaged, he contacted us for help. Based on his explanation, we suspected that the internal output fuse may be burnt or damaged.
Instead of having him ship the unit back to us, pay for the diagnostics, wait for the repairs, and cover all the back-and-forth shipping costs, our technical support team offered a few diagnostic steps that he could safely perform on-site to determine whether he can fix the problem at his facility.
Fortunately, a simple fuse replacement was all he needed.
After replacing the burnt fuse, the plasma power supply was back in operation.
The customer's response meant a great deal to us. He shared that he had previously worked with several power supply manufacturers, such as Kepco, Inc., Glassman Power Supply (XP Power), and MKS Instruments’ RF (Radio Frequency) and Microwave Power division, and had always been required to send the equipment back for diagnostics and repairs whenever something failed. As a self-funded startup balancing research, a full-time day job, and family responsibilities, being able to solve the problem immediately saved him valuable time and significant expenses.
“I am so grateful for your advice. I have dealt with Kepco in NY, MKS radio frequency division in Santa Clara, and Glassman power supplies in New Jersey and none of them have ever done what you did. I have it back up and running and I am excited to get back to research this weekend. From the bottom of my heart, thank you!”, he states in his email.
Our goal is never to create unnecessary repair work. If a problem can be diagnosed remotely and safely by the customer, we'll recommend that approach first. If a repair is genuinely required, we'll be transparent about it. Either way, we believe customers deserve honest technical advice—not unnecessary costs.
Supporting our customers doesn't end when the new equipment ships. It continues every time they have a question, encounter a challenge, or simply need someone willing to help.
That's the kind of partnership we strive to build.
About Amp-Line Corp’s Plasma Power Supply Systems
Our plasma power supply systems are usually high frequency and high voltage output systems. Depending on the application, the output frequency can range from hundreds of Hertz to tens of kilo Hertz. We provide wideband power amplifiers and high frequency high voltage transformers to universities, testing laboratories, and other research organizations for their research projects. Our plasma power supply system is commonly used for testing dielectric barrier discharge.
The following chart highlights some of the plasma power supply systems we have manufactured for our customers.
Note: The engineer in this blog purchased configuration #1, which is model AL-1400-HF-A power amplifier and model AL-T1000.7 HFHV output transformer. Please contact our sales team for more details!
